IP Lookup server-side
?
How to use IP Lookup

The IP lookup tool shows the information tied to an IP address: country, region, approximate city, internet provider, and a position on a map. Enter an IPv4 or IPv6 address, or leave the field empty to look up your own IP. It is useful for checking where a connection comes from, diagnosing a network issue, or understanding the stated location of a server. The lookup is run from our server, which queries a geolocation database, because that data is not directly accessible from the browser

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is IP geolocation?

IP geolocation usually gives the country and approximate city reliably, but it does not provide an exact position. It often reflects the location of the internet provider rather than the user

Why is the lookup done server side?

Querying a geolocation database and accessing certain metadata is not possible directly from the browser. The request therefore goes out from our server

Can I look up any IP address?

Yes, you can enter any public IPv4 or IPv6 address. Private or reserved addresses return no geolocation because they are not routable on the internet

Is my IP address stored?

The address is used only to perform the lookup and is not stored long term for tracking purposes
