How to use Secret Note

The secret note is a private alternative to Privnote for sharing a confidential message through a one time link. Your text is encrypted in the browser with AES-256-GCM before it is stored, so the server never receives the content in clear. You can enable burn after read, set an expiry date and even protect the note with a password. It is handy for sending a login, a password or a sensitive piece of information without leaving a trail in a regular inbox.

Share an encrypted message: expiry, self-destruct and optional password.

Frequently asked questions

Can the server read my note?

No. The text is encrypted in your browser with AES-256-GCM before being sent. The server only stores encrypted data that it cannot decrypt.

What is burn after read?

It is an option that permanently deletes the note as soon as it has been opened once. The link then becomes unusable.

Can I protect the note with a password?

Yes. You can add a password that the recipient must enter to decrypt and read the message.

What happens at expiry?

On the expiry date you choose, the note is deleted automatically, whether it has been read or not.
